Since the opening of our Tonbridge tuition centre in January 2019, this centre, based at Tonbridge Grammar School, has become a beacon of premium education support for children aged between five and sixteen. We offer a selection of core-subject classes, led by our carefully chosen teachers. Whether it is our highly sought-after 11+ preparation classes; our weekly Primary-level small group Maths and English sessions, our Secondary-level support classes in Maths, English and Science; or our holiday 11+ and GCSE revision courses; we have built a team of experienced professionals, whose passion, industry-sector knowledge and subject specialism allows children to tap into their true academic potential.
RTC Tonbridge dedicates at least 25% of all Year 4 and Year 5 spaces to pupils in receipt of the Pupil Premium Grant. This offer of free weekly tuition, to over 40 local children, supports the TGS social mobility initiative, Horizons. The RTC-TGS partnership is underpinned by the collective drive to make Grammar School entry more accessible to academically able children from less privileged backgrounds. We are both excited and extremely proud to support this remarkable pro-bono initiative, which assists massively in the achievement of RTC’s core company mission: to expand the accessibility of premium tutoring to an ever-broadening demographic. RTC is also a preferred supplier of supplementary learning to KS3 and KS4 pupils who attend TGS and are in receipt of the Pupil Premium Grant. Tailored Education Excellence: Small Group Classes for Personalised Learning
Our weekly small group sessions last for one hour each and never exceed nine pupils per class. The lesson topics are directly aligned with the demands of the national curriculum; yet our tutoring service goes beyond merely delivering inspirational classes. We also provide regular lesson feedback and, moreover, welcome unlimited individual progress conversations because we know how important constructive feedback is to students and their parents. We cover all exam boards: AQA, EDEXCEL, OCR and WJEC. Both formal and informal academic assessments are available throughout the academic year, including our very popular Winter, Spring and Summer 11+ Mock Assessments.
Teachers will mark homework in a timely and constructive manner, in addition to your child receiving the benefit of our expertly prepared learning materials.
To find out more about how we can help your child to maximise their potential, please contact us, either via telephone on 01892-800-492 or by email at [email protected].
Classes
Our primary courses cover KS1 and KS2. We provide exam preparation classes, mock assessments and revision courses for pupils approaching the 11+ and ISEB entrance exams.
Assessments
Transitioning from Year 4 to Year 5 is a significant milestone in a student's academic journey and, as such, the dates and locations for the Year 4 into Year 5 Assessments are crucial pieces of information.
Revision
During some of the school holidays, we will be extending the opportunity for children (both RTC and external pupils) to attend some 11+ revision sessions.
Timetables, Dates & Policies
Any pupil that cannot attend their usual lesson, will be permitted the opportunity to slot into another class-time during the week.
Frequently asked questions
Embarking on the journey of private education in the UK often brings with it a myriad of queries, particularly as new programmes and financial structures are introduced. To aid you in this process, we have gathered a comprehensive list of questions and answers.
Yes, we do. We are Ofsted registered, which means that we can accept childcare vouchers. We also operate a number of RTC scholarship schemes to help some of the most disadvantaged children in our communities.
Costs can vary depending on how many classes your child attends each week. We offer a free introductory class to every child. We also offer a free academic assessment to all new Year 4 and Year 5 children and will make recommendations based on the outcome of a child’s assessment.
The maximum number of children we allow per class is nine. This class number cap will ensure that high levels of individual attention is maintained, and that children can still form strong social bonds with the other children in the class.
Our lessons follow Kent’s core curriculum topics and are designed to reinforce the learning that the children are doing in their mainstream schools. For Year 5 students, we add Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning which is a Kent Test requirement but offers an additional learning opportunity for all Year 5 students, even those who do not wish to sit the 11+ exam. Our focus in Year 7 to Year 11 is Maths, English and Science.
There is no sign-up fee and no cancellation fee. We do operate a strict absence policy which requires 24 hours’ notice of absence. We will offer alternative lessons within the same week, when possible.
The Right Tuition Company follows nationally accepted protocols for the safeguarding of the children in its care. You can view our Child Safeguarding Policy here. We believe that personal wellbeing and academic progress go hand-in-hand at RTC.
