This assessment is a fantastic opportunity to gain insight, through the analysis of solid data, into the level of progress a Year 4 child has made over the course of the academic year. A clear view of a child’s relative strengths and challenges is immensely useful prior to their transition into Year 5.
The assessment is comprised of fifty Maths questions and a creative writing exercise. The papers will be marked by an education specialist and the results discussed with parents in a follow-up telephone consultation, within a week of a child completing the assessment. Ahead of discussing the outcome of the assessment, parents will receive a detailed report by email which will show the raw and standardised scores, as well as useful written analysis of a child’s competence in each topic.
11+ Mock Assessment
RTC offers three formal 11+ Mock Assessments at three crucial times of a child’s Year 5 learning journey: December, March and July. These sought-after Mock papers are designed in-house and are a great learning tool, as they help to indicate, through the analysis of reliable data, a child’s skill level in all 11+ subjects.
The opportunity for a child to test-run their performance in exam conditions can not be underestimated. Factors such as time management, the ability to remain focussed for the test duration and managing anxiety are all important considerations.
Sitting at least one Mock 11+ Assessment is strongly recommended for anyone preparing for the Kent Test.
Papers:
Maths
English – Comprehension and SPaG
Verbal Reasoning
Non-Verbal Reasoning and Spatial Reasoning
Parents will receive results in the form of a comprehensive report, showing the raw score for each paper, a standardised score (which takes a child’s age into account) and an overall score. The report will clearly show areas for improvement and present a cluster forecast for each paper. A follow-up consultation is then arranged, with an 11+ expert, to discuss the findings.
This feedback discussion will help put the assessment result into context and, together we will plan the carefully considered ‘next learning steps’ for driving academic progress further forward.
